Sad to say, but this video seems like the "good old days" compared to what's likely to come next. Sears and Payless went bellyup not long after this was posted, and with the announcement of Macy's closing in this mall in 2025, Security Square is well on its way to going the way of Golden Ring and Owings Mills. Never as upscale as Towson (especially after the expansion in the early '90s) or Owings Mills in its prime, Security Square has primarly served a mixed, lower to-middle income market that's among the most diverse in the Baltimore region, but lacks the "destination" offerings that Towson Town Center or The Mall In Columbia provide. Its only possible hope is for the MTA Red Line to potentially revitalize business, but I see another big box or strip development to take its place in a few years.
